Wedding
We are delighted to begin this newsletter with the happy news that Dr Susan Hussey got married to Dr Phil Wilson on 12th June at The Stables. They had a wonderful day and we hope to get some photos onto the Image Library soon. Dr Hussey will continue her work at the Practice as usual.
Useful information
Extended hours – for those of you who work full time or simply lead a busy life, we offer extended hours once a week. This is either a group of early appointments (7.30am onwards) or later hours (6pm onwards), so hopefully you can get an appointment that is convenient to you without disrupting your day.
Prescriptions – On 1st January we asked that our patients no longer phoned in to request repeat prescriptions, but could call in, email via our website or post a request. This has been a huge success and we would like to thank you for your co-operation.
Please remember that we ask for 48 hours to have a script signed by a clinician and then after you have signed it, the Pharmacy needs 48 hours to make up and return the medication. Some of our patients tell us that they re-order once they have just a weeks worth of medication left and this is what we would advise to ensure you never run out. Once a prescription leaves the Practice, it is out of our hands and you will need to contact the Pharmacy direct if you don’t get your medication back when you expected it.
New Service
From July, Isobel Graizer our Practice Nurse will be able to offer a new contraceptive service.
In addition to the services and advice currently available, Isobel will offer an Implanon fitting service. Please contact Isobel for more information or make an appointment to discuss it fully.
Retirement
After 9 years in Cromarty, Dr Roland Spencer-Jones has decided that he will be leaving the practice at the end of the year. He is now at retirement age and so thinks it’s time to move on. He has a variety of other medical and educational interests he would like to pursue and develop. In addition, a new campervan and tandem will keep him travelling the more remote parts of Scotland. There are also about 100 unclimbed Munros left!
Roland joined the practice in January 2002, and became a partner in April 2004. Before that he had been a GP in the Midlands for many years. He has helped to develop a system of diabetes care in Cromarty which is the envy of the Highlands. His days of work in the practice will now be taken over by two of the other partners – Helen Charley and Gail Haddock. Sue Hussey will take over the interest in diabetes.
We hope you will join us in wishing Roland a very happy and busy retirement in December.
WE ARE NOT BEING NOSEY!
When we ask why you are making an appointment, it is not because we want to be nosey.
We ask because we want to save you time. We want to make sure you see the right clinician for the right length of appointment time. It also the gives the clinician a little bit of information in case they want to find leaflets for you or do some research prior to your appointment.
For example, if you need to have some blood tests, we can book you in with our phlebotomist, if you need spirometry then you would need a double appointment. If we don’t ask, we don’t know.
REMEMBER
If you don’t want to tell us, you don’t have to and we don’t mind
TRAVELLING ABROAD?
Don't forget that we can offer travel vaccinations and health advice.
